3. a particularly graceful, ornamental, or excellent quality.

We’re never going to figure out this crazy journey called life and I don’t think we are meant to sit around and figure it out. There is beauty in the unknown and excitement in the potential for growth at every turn.  

See there is a beautiful thing that happens when we work together. It compares to a miracle. It’s called synergy.

So love the people who choose you, and choose the people who love you. And, in the in between, dark areas, choose and love the people who don’t choose and love you. Be in their corner, even if they’re not in yours. That’s what faith does. Have faith in yourself. And when you do, when you love and love and love and cry and cry and love, you’ll realize that, along the way, Jesus and your own skin and bones have always been your home. That life hurts a lot of the time, but most of the time it’s pretty freaking beautiful. 

If breathing is all you can do then that is ok. But if you can, now start to look at the sky, look at the stars and how constant they are, these burning balls of gaseous light that only turn into something infinitely more beautiful when they are broken. Start looking at the sunsets and how the routine is still beautiful every single evening. Start looking at the grass and how steadfast it is how small and insignificant it is but how it stays there through storm and snow and heat and rain and heartbreak. Start to look at the trees that grow leaves every single spring just to make you happy the trees that change color every fall just to breathe hope into your gasping lungs. Just look at the trees if you can.

People might discriminate, but beauty doesn’t. It can be enjoyed in any form by any one.

“Gardens are not made by singing ‘Oh, how beautiful!’ and sitting in the shade.” In other words, the act of creating beauty – even in our souls – requires work.

Yet, while we can learn how to cultivate beauty externally, how do we cultivate it internally? Since our souls are intangible, it can help to look to concrete examples and analogies for guidance. Continuing with the image of a garden, then, we can learn a lot.
